Beyond cultivating a sense of community through personal exchange, one important purpose of hosting events and conventions is to connect alumni back to the campus, be it in the context of seminars and practical projects or for lectures and panel discussions. For example each semester we invite several MIA alumni to offer insights into their diverse jobs and career paths: MIAs Meet the Market.
Under the umbrella of HSG Alumni, the official University of St.Gallen Alumni organisation, the IA programmes set up an International Affairs Alumni club in 2009 to generate offers for the needs and interests of the IA Alumni community. While the Alumni efforts traditionally start off with a decentral programme ceremony each Graduation Day, our major Alumni Event, the "Stawi/MIA Convention" takes place everey two years and is attended by close to 200 graduates of the MIA programme as well as more senior Alumni of the former "Staatswissenschaftlicher Lehrgang".
